Find Out More

What is
MAYbe Less Sugar?

MAYbe Less Sugar is an initiative taking place in Switzerland during the month of May.
It invites people to find out more about added sugars, where and how much we consume, why and how to cut back.

How
does it work?

It’s really quite simple. By signing up for MAYbe Less Sugar, I find out how much added sugar I consume, can take part in events and receive tips and tricks for experimenting with eating and drinking less sugar.

After the success of the annual editions since 2023, see you in May 2026. In the meantime, the website and online calculator are still available to help you find out how much added sugar you consume. And, of course, to try out tips on how to eat and drink less sugar!

Why
take part?

We asked participants

Dominique

I realize that we don’t really know what we’re consuming. I wanted to know if I was consuming too many added sugars.

Alice

With the calculator, I saw that I’d managed to reduce my sugar intake and I’m super proud.

Ema

If I have sodas in the fridge, I’m going to drink them. So I got my family to sign up too, to help each other change our habits, and it’s very motivating.

Who can
take part?

The MAYbe Less Sugar action is free and open to everyone.
Good news! I can invite my family, friends and colleagues to take part.
Participating together is easier and more motivating.

What if I suffer from eating disorders, diabetes, overweight or obesity?

There’s no risk in taking part. However, this does not replace guidance from healthcare professionals. And if you have diabetes, it’s a good idea to talk to your doctor before cutting back on sugar. Contacts are provided in the “What’s next?” section.

Added sugars:
What are they?

Added sugars include table sugar (sucrose), fructose, glucose syrup, honey, high-fructose syrup, and many other isolated sugars used directly or added in the preparation or production of beverages and foods.
